1) What do we know about the Arctic Monkeys audience? Think demographics, psychographics and how they got into the band.

Demographics= The demographics for Arctic monkeys is that they are established as a stereotypical indie rock band due to them being a self made group due to the groups making from being friends in high school.

Psychographics= The psychographics for Arctic monkeys is that they present themselves as truthful and realistic as an independent small group at this time. This is because in there performance music video one of the main band members says a phrase to show that the group itself is truthful due to the making of the clip of the music video is made with one shot and that if they make a mistake it shows that they are truthful to there audience without editing it showing that arctic monkeys is authentic.


2) What audience pleasures are offered by the music video for I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor?

The audience pleasures showed in Arctic monkeys music video is that they are a UK based band, There identity at the start of the band was shown and considered as honest and realistic. There personal identity from the lyrics of the song can be related by a younger range of audience. The use of an 80s style type of music video which can bring older fans to have the feeling of nostalgia.

3) Pick out three particular shots, scenes or moments in the video that would particularly appeal to Arctic Monkeys fans. Why did you choose those moments?
1) The medium close shot shows one of the members face making it easily readable to read what he is saying as this member of arctic monkeys is saying a speech saying that to not believe the eye which is a metaphor of him saying that this music video/performance is legit and honest without making cuts on little mistake which shows that arctic monkeys are quite humble as they don't mind about small honest mistakes.

2)The use of the longshot shows the different 4 members of the group of arctic monkeys establishing the different members for new audiences to recognise that arctic monkeys is not a solo artist but it is a band group. This is because it shows the different roles for each member being recognised of who they are in that group (identity).


3) The use of an extreme close up shoot in this music video demonstrates the main members facial expression which shows his commitment of being part of the band how its meant to symbolise realism and not cutting out small mistakes which again demonstrates arctic monkeys as humble band. 


4) How did fans take a leading role in making Arctic Monkeys famous back in 2005?
Through Arctic Monkeys performing in local pubs and handing out CDs to local people who enjoyed and satisfied there music. Later on those fans would upload those CDs as mp3 players on a website/app called 'myspace' and P2P. This then would later on the fame and rise of Arctic monkeys as fans uploading there music gained recognition to newer audiences being familiar with this band. The sharing of their music encouraged people to talk about and share their music, which created a buzz about the band. 

5) How are fans positioned to respond to the band? What does Arctic Monkeys want fans to think about their video?#
That there music video is meant to promote a nostalgic feeling with an 1980's effect making older viewers feel nostalgic towards the band promoting popularity. The band opens with the main singer introducing the song and adding the words 'Don't believe the hype'. This could be a reference to the online following the band built up using Myspace. The use of colours are meant to represent an authentic feeling.

1) How did the Arctic Monkeys first achieve success and build up their fanbase?
They were signed to a record called Domino record which they were loyal too at there early stages of there band .They achieved there first success through fans uploading music on my space and P2P which promoted a high audience view towards arctic monkey which raised and grew there popularity. This then slowly made them recognisable through local performance as there image in the media wasn't about the materialistic culture that most celebs have and instead stood out to them for promoting honesty and being authentic.

2) Why was P2P file sharing and MySpace an unexpected aspect to Arctic Monkeys' early success?
Because it allowed there music to be heard from everyone whilst social media was gaining popularity at the early 2000s which gave arctic monkeys themselves the advantage of recording there music to be published and make records and hits.


3) How does the rise of Arctic Monkeys differ from how BLACKPINK were formed and became famous?
One way that both bands differ is that BLACKPINK was manufactured by a record company (YG entertainment) whilst arctic monkeys are authentic as they are a group of close friends from high school.

4) Who is Arctic Monkeys record label and how many copies did they sell of their debut album? Why did they choose an independent record label?
The record company for arctic monkeys were domino records. Their debut album Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not went straight to number one and sold over 350,000 copies in its first week of release. They were not interested in working with a major as it would undermine their creative control.

5) Looking at the wider music industry, has the internet been a positive or negative development for record companies and artists? Why?
Both negative and positive views. This is because the internet is easily accessible for publishing music worldwide which is an advantage for todays generation as they are easy to access. However an negative view would be that peoples opinions would be part of free speech towards the wider music industry as peoples opinions could stop a small local song writer to end up not doing music as peoples many peoples opinions are reinforced without any filter or empathy.
