Media assessment 1:Learner Response

WWW= Overall a good first assessment Steven. Able to use specific media terminology to develop your responses

EBI=A few careless mistakes e.g connotation of the background for water aid advert. More detail needed for Q3 on how denotation and connotation can be applied to the unseen media product.

3) Identify one of your stronger questions. Why did you do better on this question? Use the mark scheme to help you with this. I feel like my strongest one was question 4 because i was able to identify the camera shots of the image and what the purpose of it and the impacts of how the audience would react to it and further explaining its main purpose.

4) Identify one of your weaker questions. Why did you score lower on this particular question? Use the mark scheme to help you with this. I feel that my weakest one was Q3 because i manged to get 5/12. This is because I only done the denotations, connotations and the codes being used in the advert. However i didn't mention the different purposes such as the position of Beyonce on the campaign and the lighting

5) Finally, write a new, detailed paragraph for Question 3 - the unseen text 12 mark question. Use the mark scheme to identify anticipated content you can add to your response and make sure you refer to the text and write in detail. 

In the beyonce advert we can identify that she is marketing her perfume line. The denotations to this advert is that she is wearing a red dress that makes her stand out with the different contrasts of the lighting. the colour red could suggest braveness power and dominant. The word heat being used in this is a way of verbal codes. The use of costume of Beyonce makes her appear as seductive and powerful. Featuring Beyonce in this advert can help sell products as she is worldwide celebrity. This would encourage fans and audiences to purchase the perfume as Beyonce is a well liked song writer. Her position and stance makes her also appear as dominant and confident as she is standing in a certain way.

mise en scene (stranger things)

 Stranger things Lighting: The lighting in stranger things is quite neutral and dark to show suspense to the audience. This suggests to the audience that the setting of stranger things is quite mysterious and intense. At the start of 1:24 the lights flicker to build up a dramatic scene making the scene end up quite violent and brutal. At the scene in 6:59 we see the character calling on a telephone and the lighting is dark and quite foggy. This results the scene to look quite intense resulting that scene will become intense and fast as it is showcasing a dark scene. costume :the costumes the characters wear are mainly denim and long sleeves. This suggests the audience that the characters are based on the 80s as it has 80s furniture and denim was introduced in the 80s and how they are dressed.
